4 Important Points to Note
Short Courses (6 months or less)
Students from outside the UK and European Union wishing to study with School of Electronic Music for 6 months or less can apply for a Short Term Study Visa.
What courses can I study in a 6 month period if I get a Short Term Study Visa?
During your 6 month stay in Manchester, you could comfortably study the majority of the courses we offer. Speak with a course administrator who can help design you timetable to suit your needs during your 6 month stay.
Short courses you can choose to study
Any of the courses listed on our short course chooser, can be studied, or a combination of short and longer courses as long as the dates and timetables don’t conflict. You can also choose from any courses on our Music Business course chooser, DJ course chooser and Native Instruments course chooser.
Diploma courses you can choose to study:
Our diploma courses are based on 6 month modules – so you could study several of these at the same. Your weekly schedule would be busier depending on the amount of modules you wish to study, but it is in most cases possible to study them alongside each other.
We always advise speaking to a course advisor to understand your timetable before planning to travel over to study with us.

What can and can’t I do if I am granted a Short Term Study Visa?
If you are granted a Short Term Study Visa, you will be able to study in the UK (and with Manchester Midi School) for a period of 6 months.
However, you will not have full student entitlements in the UK. This means:
You will not:
be able to work either full or part-time
be able to engage in any unpaid work experience placements
be able to carry out any business.
be able to extend your visa
be able to bring family members ‘dependants’ with you.
be able to gain access to any public funds, benefits, or grants.
Can I study more than one course at MMS during the 6 month period?
Yes, absolutely! We would suggest you get as much as possible out of your time in Manchester.
Please speak with a course advisor to discuss what course options you’d like to study, and we’ll design you a timetable.
Can I study more than one course (ie at another school) during the 6 month period?
Yes you can, we have no problems with you studying at another school (such as a language school) as long as it does not conflict with your studies at Manchester Midi School.
