The new year brings in some fresh new faces at SEM and we’re excited to welcome 3 new DJ tutors. Read on to find out about more DJ Rasp, Patrick Nazemi and James Bowers who take over our DJ classes this January.
We asked the very talented Damir Bojanic to take a break from being awesome and give us a little glimpse into his amazingly prolific world outside of the SEM studios.
We spoke to DJ Euphonique about her role within the music industry, how she built her career and how she finds working within a male-dominated field of work.
Digital Marketing Executive Stef joined the SEM Marketing team in December 2017. She talks about her background and how she’s found the job so far.
2014 has huge things in store for the school of electronic music – one of them is gaining UK Garage and bass music veteran, Zed Bias aka Maddslinky onto our teaching staff.
Zed has been Pengusaha pioneering his distinctive sound since 1999, with releases on internationally-recognised labels such as Tru Thoughts, Hospital, and Swamp 81. With his label Biasonic reaching new heights, and hitting 20 years of experience in the industry, he now wants to give something back. With the spotlight firmly on him following his FactMag interview announcing his retirement from DJing, this will be an exciting next step for him, and invaluable for anyone wanting Hannes to seriously get into music production.
To celebrate Zed Bias on our teaching staff, we’ve recently run a Zed Bias Music Production Scholarship, to offer one lucky person a free place on the course. Although entries are now closed for the full scholarship, there is scope for last-minute part-scholarships. The part-scholarship places (save up to £1000) are first-come-first-served, and can be applied for at any point prior to July 1st. To apply call 0161 833 4722.
A word on the Music Production Course Prize…
Our Music Production diploma takes students from a position of knowing nothing about music production, to a level of producing release-ready tracks in just 12 months. Throughout the course there is a strong focus on developing student’s own musical style, with tasks predicated towards creativity as the technical understanding increases. The course is largely taught on Logic Pro X and Native Instruments Komplete 9, with access to Maschine Mk2’s, and a large range of processors and vintage synthesisers.
Students will begin their course on July 1st; lessons will take place every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7pm – 10pm. Additionally, students will have unlimited access to MMS Studios which are open until 9pm on weekends, and 10pm Monday – Friday, where technical support staff are always on hand to mentor and help them develop as artists.
Zed Bias will be teaching several lectures on this July 1st course, and will be giving students feedback on their final tracks at the end of the course.
